Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Cosmica ("we", "our", or "the Service") handles information in connection with both the Cosmica desktop application and this website (collectively, the "Service"). Our design philosophy is simple: we do not collect, store, or transmit your personal information.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect any of the following:

  • Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other contact information
  • Account credentials (we do not have accounts or sign-in)
  • Payment information
  • IP addresses, device identifiers, or location data tied to identity
  • The contents of your notes, voice memos, or any other user-generated content
  • Behavioral analytics or usage tracking

2. Local-First Design

Cosmica is a local-first application. All notes, attachments, voice recordings, and metadata are stored on your own device, under your control. The Service does not operate servers that receive, process, or retain your content. When you use optional AI features, requests are dispatched to locally-installed command-line tools (such as Claude Code CLI or Codex CLI) that you have independently installed on your own machine; Cosmica itself does not intermediate or retain those requests.

3. This Website

This website is a static informational site. It does not set tracking cookies, does not use third-party analytics, and does not embed social or advertising trackers. The only data stored in your browser is a small preference value (cosmica.locale) saved in localStorage to remember your selected language. This value never leaves your device.

4. Third-Party Links

Our website contains links to external sites such as GitHub and LinkedIn. When you click those links, you are subject to the privacy practices of those third parties. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content or privacy practices of any third-party sites or services.

5. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. Because we do not collect any personal information from any user, we also do not knowingly collect information from children.

6. Data Security

Because your data never leaves your device, the security of your files depends on the security of your own operating system and device. We recommend keeping your system up to date and using full-disk encryption where available.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when it was most recently revised. Continued use of the Service after any change constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.

8. Contact

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, you can reach the maintainer via the links provided in the site footer (GitHub or LinkedIn).
